The 2022 edition of the WCO e-Commerce Package is now available

The World Customs Organization (WCO) announced this Wednesday (29.06.2022) through a statement that the 2022 edition of the WCO e-commerce package is now available, in the dedicated section of the site

The revised version of the Framework for Rules on Cross-Border Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce FoS) and the respective Technical Specifications were approved by the WCO Council, the highest body, on June 24.

The 2022 edition is the result of the periodic review that began in January 2021 and includes the key principles, namely: Risk Management and Advanced Electronic Data; Facilitation and Simplification; Fair and Efficient Revenue Collection; Safety and Security; Partnerships; Public Awareness, Outreach and Capacity Building; Measurement and Analytics; Transformative Technologies.

Meanwhile, the updated version includes a New standard on data quality in Cross-Border Electronic Commerce, and a the language strengthening existing standards on risk management for facilitation and control, and advanced technologies and innovation.

The facilities were also expanded Technical specifications and certain annexes were improved based on practices and experiences shared by WCO members.

There are also new ones case studies on electronic commerce, addressing priority issues such as advanced electronic data interchange, facilitation, security and revenue collection (including de minimis levels).

Finally, the WCO encourages knowledge of the 2022 version of the above-mentioned documents, already available in English and French, for their implementation in a coordinated manner in order to further improve border management and facilitate trade. (WCO e-commerce package)
