Argentina's trade balance closed in October with a surplus of $1827 million, the largest result in 14 months, reported this Tuesday (22.11.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC).

This was the result of an increase in exports and a sharp decrease in imports.

According to INDEC data, the Exports reached USD 7901 million, an 15,1% advance year-on-year and a 5% improvement compared to September.

Meanwhile, Imports reached USD 6.074 million, an increase of 15,4% compared to October 2021, but a drop of the same magnitude (-14,9%) compared to the previous month.

Exports rose due to a 6,4% increase in prices and an 8,2% increase in quantities, while imports advanced due to a 7,0% increase in prices and an 8,3% increase in goods purchased abroad.

At the large level items, exports showed increases in all categories, such as Primary Products (PP), which reached USD 2.382 million in October, with an increase of 30,4%, while Manufactures of agricultural origin (MOA) advanced USD 2.545 million and Manufactures of industrial origin (MOI) USD 2.255 million. 

Regarding imports, Capital goods (BK) totaled USD 996 million, with an increase of 14,6%; and Intermediate goods (BI) totaled USD 2.334 million, marking an improvement of only 4,6% year-on-year. Purchases of Parts, pieces and accessories (PyA) for capital goods reached USD 1231 million, with an increase of 24,2%, while Fuels and lubricants (CyL) closed at USD 601 million (52,9% year-on-year), Consumer goods (BC) totaled USD 676 million, with an increase of 11,6%, Passenger vehicles (VA) USD 202 million (94,2%), and the rest of the imports only USD 33 million, with a decrease of -42,1%.

Destinations  

In the breakdown by destinations, during October, the exchange bilateral was greater in the case of Chile, for USD 294 million, and the European Union, with USD 231 million. In third and fourth place was trade with Peru, for USD 189 million, and Vietnam , USD 160 million. With China, the surplus amounted to USD 135 million, and with United States reached USD 18 million. With Brazil, the balance was a deficit of 124 million.

According to INDEC, in the accumulated first ten months In the year, exports abroad totaled USD 75.144 million, while imports totaled USD 70.738 million. (Argentine trade. Estimated figures for October 2022)
