-

The National Customs Directorate seized in the last three months 4.557 tires worth an estimated $320 million, merchandise that was attempted to be brought into the country by different methods to conceal and hide its contents.

The agency stated, in a statement released this Monday (26.09.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX), that the attempt to enter the tires took different methods and detailed the following examples: hidden in grains, inside other covers, parcels, cargo transport and pellets wrapped in black polypropylene to cover its contents.

The Customs Office also noted that "the actions carried out are part of the policies of the agency led by Guillermo Michel, who since his appointment has imposed the need to generate risk perception."

To this end, the agency "attacks the informal economy resulting from the sale of goods illegally brought into the national territory, as well as attacking the unfair competition of importing companies in the tire industry, which make abusive use of precautionary measures in order to overstock based on an official dollar, clearly threatening national production and employment," according to the statement.
