Today marks International Customs Broker Day

-

Each November 27th International Customs Broker Day is celebrated.

A day like today, but from year 1969 , The Association of Professional Customs Agents of the Americas was founded (ASAPRA) in the city of Viña del Mar, Republic of Chile.

This international private law, non-profit corporation integrates into a single entity the chambers, federations, associations and unions of agents, dispatchers and/or customs brokers of Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

Maintaining international security by promoting the adoption of effective measures to prevent and/or eliminate threats of illegal trafficking of goods, customs offences or other violations of customs and foreign trade laws is one of the purposes of the entity; in addition, to promote among its associates friendly relations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and the self-determination of peoples and to adopt appropriate measures to build and strengthen universal peace. Also, to carry out international cooperation in the solution of problems of a customs or foreign trade nature, without making distinctions on the grounds of race, sex, language or religion; and, finally, to serve as a centre for harmonising the efforts of its Associates.

On the occasion of its 51st Anniversary, We accompany the words of its current president, Pedro Víctor Castro Garino, aimed at Customs Agents or Brokers, at global, regional and national levels.
