Honduras: Three airports remain operational

The Honduran government has decided to keep commercial flights operating at the international airports of Toncontín (Tegucigalpa), Juan Manuel Gálvez (Roatán) and Golosón (La Ceiba), according to a statement from the Honduran Civil Aeronautics Agency (AHAC).

The decision was announced this Wednesday (18.11.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX), after a virtual meeting held with members of the Honduran Airline Association (AHLA), representatives of the Honduran Airport Infrastructure and Services Company (EHISA) and Palmerola International Airport (PIA), after analyzing with meteorology experts the meteorological predictions of Tropical Storm IOTA for the coming days.

The text states that “Toncontín International Airport in the city of Tegucigalpa, Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport in the city of Roatán and Golosón International Airport in the city of La Ceiba, they are already enabled to resume its flights.”

However, the AHAC clarifies that “Air Navigation Services at these airports will be provided as long as weather conditions allow normal operations and in accordance with established parameters.”

In the case of Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport, in the city of San Pedro Sula (northern Honduras), together with the representative of EHISA, it was decided that it will remain Temporarily inoperative until December 15, while rehabilitation work is carried out due to the damage caused by tropical storms Iota and Eta.

In the same press release, this institution together with the Honduran Association of Airlines, Palmerola International Airport (PIA) and the Honduran Company of Infrastructure and Airport Services (EHISA), in order to guarantee operations in the country's airports,  They reiterated their commitment to safeguard life and safety of operators, employees and users of air transport.
