-

The Honduran Customs Administration adopted the mandate of the Ministerial instance of the Customs Union that establishes the obligation in the use of Radio Frequency Technologies (RFID tags), for all means of land freight transport registered in the States Parties as of October 01 from 2020 as part of the strategy and facilitation measures in the region.

The RFID System allows for the identification of means of transport that are duly registered in the database on the platform of the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), which will provide the Customs Service with control of the traceability and times of customs operations.

Amongst the benefits The highlights include a reduction in border crossing time, reduced costs per stay, priority given to advance procedures and a reduction in human intervention.

The deputy director of La Mesa Customs, José Valentín Martínez, detailed the following: requirements so that carriers can register for the new enrollment process using the RFID system:

  • Be authorized as Public Service Assistants in the Customs Transport Modality.
  • Keep your membership contract up to date.
  • Signature record of the legal representative of the transport company.
  • Update of active and registered units under the carrier resolution. (Increase or decrease)
  • The means of transport must have the front glass in optimal condition (not broken).
