Honduras. Customs urges to follow instructions to safeguard goods before the arrival of Hurricane Iota

-

Iota has strengthened into a hurricane and is expected to quickly become a major hurricane as it approaches Central America, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said in its 1 a.m. ET update Sunday.

In the context of the emergency, the Honduran Customs Administration urged the Customs Civil Service Assistants and users in general to follow the following directrices  to limit the damage that tropical storm Iota may cause.

Indications

  • Given the impact that Hurricane IOTA will have on the entire Honduran territory, we ask you to take all precautionary measures and recommendations issued by the Permanent Contingency Commission (COPECO) and departmental and local entities.
  • If the merchandise is located in an authorized customs facility with a high probability of flooding, steps must be taken to safeguard it.
  • We ask that you be careful on roads that have experienced faults, landslides and collapses in order to safeguard lives.
  • Honduras Customs is providing expedited operations in order to continue the foreign trade process to guarantee the supply of goods and supplies in general to deal with emergencies and Covid-19, as well as donations that will be entering through the different customs offices in the country.
  • We urge everyone to pay attention to COPECO's alerts and recommendations and to act responsibly.
