The Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) reported this Monday (09.05.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) that Guatemala and Colombia signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) of their Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs to facilitate and strengthen the logistics chain of international trade.
With this agreement, companies that are authorized by the SAT in Guatemala and certified by the National Tax and Customs Directorate of Colombia (DIAN) as Authorized Economic Operators will be able to access the benefits established in the program, which are related to streamlining trade procedures and being recognized as safe customs users.
"The ARM will provide actors in the international logistics chain authorized as AEO by both institutions with benefits related to the streamlining and facilitation of the clearance of goods and the reduction of verifications," SAT said in a statement.
It is worth mentioning that the AEO was adopted by the World Customs Organization (WCO) in 2005 under the Framework of Standards to Facilitate and Secure Trade (Safe Framework). In this regard, the Guatemalan tax authority noted that the signature was developed in compliance with Pillar 1 of the Safe Framework, referring to "Customs-Customs", which is framed within the actions of the Institutional Strategic Plan of the SAT.
The agreement was signed by the Superintendent of SAT, Mario Livio Díaz Reyes and the Director of Customs Management of Colombia, Ingrid Magnolia Díaz Rincon, accompanied by the Customs Superintendent, Werner Ovalle Ramírez.
In Guatemala, the OAS Program was born in 2010. To date, a total of XNUMX have been certified. 79 Authorized Economic Operators.
