This Monday, the Pro Tempore President of the Central American Customs Committee and Guatemalan Customs Superintendent, Werner Ovalle, announced the progress made by the technical groups during October 2021.
It should be noted that during the second half of the year, the Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) through the Customs Office is in charge of the pro tempore presidency of this body made up of the General Directors of Customs of Central America and located within the framework of the work of the Council of Ministers of Central American Integration (COMIECO).
In this context, the SAT reported the following: progress in strategic axes to deepen the integration process in Central America:
Customs control
The Technical Risk Group mainly carries out work within the framework of Mutual Assistance and Technical Cooperation between Tax Administrations of Central America, as well as the milestones that are being worked on in coordination with the Central American Value Commission.
Normative
The completion is highlighted in the DUCA-T, DUCA-F and Tag-OAS Roadmaps, among others.
Capacity building
The results of the Seminar|Workshop “Ethics, transparency and integrity”, as well as the planning of three events for next November, coordinated jointly with the World Customs Organization, World Bank Organization and Crime Stoppers.
Trade Facilitation
The progress and upcoming actions of the Regional Dispatch Time Study and Action Plans led by the Customs Directors of Central America with the technical support of the World Customs Organization and SIECA.
All the actions mentioned by Ovalle go hand in hand with multilateral commitments in international trade, according to the Trade Facilitation Agreement of the World Trade Organization and the World Customs Organization, to benefit foreign trade actors in the region.
