In a high-level meeting, the Guatemalan Customs Office presented this Monday (08.08.2022) the Authorized Economic Operator Program (OAS) to other public authorities, aimed at boosting the competitiveness of the Central American country.
"This trade facilitation tool aims to strengthen national competitiveness, economic reactivation, increase tax collection, security, facilitation and control of international trade carried out to and from Guatemala," the Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT-G) said in a statement.
“The action was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the SAFE Regulatory Framework of the World Customs Organization, in the Pillar 3 related to the Customs-other Border Control entities association"He added.
Cooperation between these public authorities is essential. In this way, the programme seeks to secure the logistics chain and strengthen the facilitation of legitimate trade as a shared responsibility between both sectors.
The meeting was chaired by the Superintendent of Customs, Werner Ovalle. Present were the Vice Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food, Víctor Hugo Guzmán; the Deputy Director of the Guatemalan Migration Institute, José Eduardo Alejos; accompanied by representatives of the Ministries of the Interior, Public Health and Social Assistance and the National Competitiveness Program.
