The Philippines becomes a new market for Argentine meat with bones

-

The Ministry of Agriculture, together with the National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA), announced a new achievement for Argentine foreign trade: lenabling the Philippine market (Asia) for the export of poultry, pork and beef, including products such as meat with bones, offal and fats. This agreement also recognises the equivalence of health control and certification systems between both countries, a key step to streamline exports.

“As of this authorization, a period of 15 days is established to formalize the opening of the market, which will allow the teams of the Philippine health service to evaluate the veterinary certificates proposed by Argentina and start exports,” SENASA explained in a statement released on Monday (23.12.2024).

This advance not only facilitates the shipment of meat products, but also opens the possibility of enabling new Argentine establishments interested in trading with the Philippines. During 2024, Philippine delegations visited Argentina to inspect and verify the official SENASA control system, with positive results.

The Philippines is an expanding market: In 2023, the country imported meat and by-products worth more than USD 1.750 billion, and between January and October 2024, its meat purchases increased by 17% compared to the same period of the previous year. According to the Philippines Department of Agriculture and USDA estimates, By 2025, the Philippines is projected to import 226 tons of beef, doubling volumes from a decade ago.

This agreement is added to other openings achieved by Argentina last November, aimed at international trade opening. Among them, is the certification of the first shipment of 22.000 kilograms of fresh oranges a Guatemala (Central America), the opening of Ecuadorian market (South America) for products such as lemon, sweet citrus and bone-in beef, as well as the authorization of exports of live horses to Oman (Saudi Arabia)) and Namibia (southwest Africa).
