During the e-commerce week organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), representatives of international organizations, officials and business leaders highlighted this Tuesday (26.04.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) the importance of connecting points to improve cooperation and achieve an inclusive digital future.
The second day of the event, which started yesterday, featured two high-level sessions on “Connecting the dots for more inclusive development” and “Boosting an inclusive digital economy: the key role of development cooperation”.
Among the highlighted thoughts, John Denton, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) emphasized the digital divide and detailed that around 4.900 billion people have access to the Internet, however, there are approximately 3.000 billion who are still offline.
“The fact that we still have nearly 3 billion people around the world who are unable to participate is an inequality that needs to be addressed,” she said.
