Werner Ovalle, Regional Vice President of the World Customs Organization (WCO) for the Americas and the Caribbean, spoke this Tuesday (20.04.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX) at a seminar organized by the United States Customs and Border Protection, which brought together Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) experts, the Regional Office reported.
In his speech, Werner Ovalle addressed the issue «Strengthening security and facilitation of international trade in the Americas and the Caribbean».
The implementation of cargo security has become not only a matter of great relevance, but also an important competitive tool. In this regard, the regional leader of the WCO emphasized seven points that contribute to strengthening this aspect. Among them, he highlighted the cooperation between Customs and the different actors and the requirements of the security program, as well as the harmonization of national measures and the importance of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program in the region to facilitate safe trade exchange.
