The National Tax Court (TFN) has decided to suspend the procedural deadlines and hearings scheduled between October 28 and November 8, 2024. The measure, made official through the Resolution 149 / 2024 and published today (November 14) in the Official Gazette, responds to the need to address exceptional situations that have affected the normality of its activities.
The temporary suspension of deadlines and hearings seeks to guarantee the correct administration of justice for all lawyers and parties involved, both public and private, and offer a margin of response to extraordinary events that affect both taxpayers and tax authorities. This decision was supported by a large majority of the members of the court, an independent jurisdictional body specialized in tax and customs matters.
This action underlines the TFN's commitment to transparency and the proper functioning of the tax and customs system in times of exceptional circumstances, ensuring that all procedures can resume in a context of fairness and legal order once conditions are normalized.
