-

The Director General of Customs of El Salvador, Benjamín Mayorga, and the Superintendent of National Customs and Tax Administration of Peru, Martha Garamendi, signed this Monday (08.01.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) a cooperation agreement on good customs practices, official sources reported.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of Customs (DGA) of the Central American country, the agreement "becomes a historic milestone."

The text highlighted that the brand new instrument is a progress towards Trade Facilitation between both nations, as well as a commitment by customs to work in a coordinated manner.

In this regard, Benjamín Mayorga stated that "The customs agreement between Peru and El Salvador is part of the achievements of President Nayib Bukele that will have benefits such as exchange of good practices, training programmes and collaboration in our customs.”

He added: "A sample of the agreement - sealed virtually - is the importance of the commercial relationship that exists between El Salvador and Peru, which is why, in 2023, we will export more than $45 million and import more than $68 million dollars."

"Thanks to President Nayib Bukele's security strategies, the Government of Peru has waived visa requirements for Salvadoran tourists so they can freely visit the South American country," Mayor said.

According to the statement, the signing of the agreement is thanks to the joint work between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy (Secretariat of Trade and Investment) and Finance, through the DGA.
