On Sunday night (15.09.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX), the President of the Nation, Javier Milei, presented to Congress the Draft General Budget of the National Administration for Fiscal Year 2025, with the main objective of achieving a zero fiscal deficit by reducing state financing.
During her speech, broadcast on national television, Milei stressed: “The deficit has been the result of first deciding how much to spend and then figuring out how to finance it. Now, we will do it the other way around: first we will decide how much to save and then how much we can spend.”
In his words, the budget presented “reinforces the National Government’s commitment to fiscal balance, which is essential to reduce inflation and strengthen macroeconomic stabilization instruments.” This will contribute to improving the purchasing power of income and strengthening the domestic market.”
In this line, the Government committed to maintaining the fundamental axes following:
- Sustained fiscal balance.
- Social support without intermediaries.
- Security and defence equipment and modernisation.
- Modernization and simplification of the State.
The bill seeks to support the macroeconomic stabilization that began in 2024 and guarantee the continuity of public policies to improve the quality of life of the population.
To this end, the budget project, together with its articles, attached tables and complementary information, has been sent to Congress for discussion. Thus, the parliamentary process begins in the Chamber of Deputies, where the proposal will be discussed. Subsequently, after receiving the partial sanction, the Senate will act as the chamber that reviews the bill presented by the President.
