Through the Decree 506 / 2023, the National Executive Branch suspended “temporally” until the December 31 the export duty rate for consumption of certain dairy products and derivatives.
The measure, published today (04.10.2023) in the Official Gazette, contemplates about 50 tariff items, considering an 8-digit opening of the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur (NCM).
The provisions will enter into force immediately.
The Executive Branch explained that “the drop in international prices for dairy products, recorded since the second half of this year, generates a lower payment capacity of industries towards producers. In this context of falling international prices and weak demand from the main global consumer, national production enters the period of seasonal growth with a perspective of increase in production levels that will result in a drop in prices payable to producers.”
Therefore, he considered that "in order to improve the income level of producers and industry, promote the development and incentive of production and the addition of national value, boost sales to foreign markets, improve the competitiveness of the chain and strengthen the roots and permanence of the rural population in each region of our country, it becomes necessary to temporarily suspend until December 31, 2023, inclusive, the Export Duties for the tariff items of the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur (NCM)".
The zero percent (0%) rate will be applied to the merchandise detailed in the Attachments next:
