Through the Decree 58 / 2022, the Government suspended the application of the Tax for an Inclusive and Solidary Argentina (PAÍS) to the purchase of banknotes and foreign currency for the import of: Pickups, vans, trucks and rigid trucks.
The regulations, published today (06.02.2023) in the Official Gazette, indicate that those who import this type of vehicle will pay the official exchange rate.
«Suspend the payment of the tax provided for in section a) of article 35 of Law No. 27.541 on Social Solidarity and Productive Reactivation in the Framework of the Public Emergency and its amendments for the acquisition of those vehicles included in the tariff items of the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur as long as whether they are pick-up trucks, vans, trucks or rigid trucks, in accordance with Decree No. 32 of January 10, 2018, designed for a maximum of three passengers, on the same line, including the driver, regardless of their value," the decree says.
It should be remembered that Law 27.541 on Social Solidarity and Productive Reactivation in the Framework of the Public Emergency and its amendments incorporated the so-called PAÍS Tax in December 2019, reports Télam.
In October 2022, it was determined that the tax covered the purchase of foreign currency notes and foreign currency carried out by residents in the country for the payment of obligations for the import of goods included in the tariff items of the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur (NCM).
These positions corresponded to luxury goods concentrated among users who demand the acquisition of foreign currency for matters outside any national production chain, as well as vehicles that, due to their configuration, are not designed for any use other than the transportation of goods.
