The national government today made official its decision to extend the Non-Automatic License (LNA) regime to more than 2.000 products, through the Resolution 26/2022.
The regulations, published this Tuesday (04.10.2022) in the Official Gazette, modified Resolution No. 523 that had been issued on July 5, 2017 to establish a system for processing Automatic and Non-Automatic Import Licences for goods included in all tariff items of the Common Nomenclature of MERCOSUR (NCM) for definitive import for consumption.
The Government considered that the implementation of an Import Licensing System, insofar as it provides statistical information at general and specific levels that allows for the identification of disruptive behaviors in foreign trade, "is a key tool for the management of foreign trade policy with a view to national productive development and in accordance with the current context of international trade relations."
"Based on the analysis of the current economic and production situation, it is estimated that there are countless Import Licences that do not represent a need or urgency for their entry into the country," the resolution says.
The Government maintains that "elements such as Pressure washers, golf clubs, skis and ice skates are some of the licenses that merit the change promoted in this resolution.”
The measure aims to "strengthen import operations required by productive sectors to sustain and/or increase production and employment levels," the official text states.
The decision will come into effect from Wednesday, 5th October 2022.
