The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries arranged the distribution of 18.871,345 tonnes of boneless, fresh, chilled or frozen meat to be exported to the United States, out of a total quota of 20.000 tons, for the period from January 1st to December 31st, 2022.
The allocation was established in the Resolution 13 / 2022 published this Tuesday (25.01.2022) in the Official Gazette. According to the official text, the characteristics of the beef cuts destined for the United States are similar to those that make up the so-called "Hilton Quota" corresponding to the countries of the European Union.
The remaining 1.128,655 tons are integrated into the Free Trade Fund.e Availability that can be accessed by refrigerators or joint projects that are meeting their assigned quotas and wish to export more.
The registration process for meat packing plants interested in participating in the allocation of export quotas to the United States was opened on December 13 of last year, and the registration period ended on the 24th of the same month.
The Ministry of Agriculture stated that 48 applicants had registered to obtain an export licence, and that decisions had to be taken with respect to some of the interested parties for not meeting the established requirements.
In this regard, the presentation of Frigorífico Maneca was rejected, since it was made five days after the deadline had expired, as well as those of the Argentine Brangus Association and Argentine Limangus Producers, since they were not registered in the Single Registry of the Agroindustrial Chain (RUCA).
On the other hand, the quotas of the meat packing plants Quickfood SA and Marfrig Argentina SA, as well as those of Frigorífico Alberdi SA and SA Carnes Pampeanas must be added together since they are part of two economic groups.
In addition, 22 applicants who did not participate in the quotas assigned in the last two years were assigned quotas of 300 to 1.000 tons, depending on each specific situation.
Finally, the regulations indicate in its sixth article that the distribution carried out "does not guarantee the issuance of the respective Export Certificates in favor of the successful bidders, which may only be issued upon compliance with all the requirements established by the current regulations."
