The national government has granted an exceptional extension for wheat shipments, in order to alleviate the inconveniences caused by the drought, through Resolution 114/2022.
The regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, published this Wednesday (02.11.2022) in the Official Gazette, specifically says: "An Exceptional Automatic Extension of 360 consecutive days, to the Foreign Sales Affidavits (DJVE) with embarkation period between December 1, 2022 and February 28, 2023, counted from the end of shipment plus automatic extension for the merchandise included in the tariff item No. 1001.99.00 (wheat bread). Which will be established in the new maximum period of validity of the DJVE”.
And it clarifies that this exceptional automatic extension "will not apply to those DJVEs that were registered after the period included in the aforementioned article, as well as to DJVEs that are registered with a validity period of 30 days."
The official text also underlines in its recitals the substantial reason for the decision: "As a result of the great drought which affects the entire territory of the Argentine Republic, and bread wheat being the product most affected by this climatic condition, it is necessary to adopt concrete measures to contain the consequences that they could cause and their implications in the agricultural export scenario."
For this reason, the regulations authorize the Undersecretariat of Agricultural Markets to dictate "the complementary and clarifying regulations that are necessary" to implement the measure as well as future adjustments that are essential to maintain the operation.
