The Argentine government officially eliminated export duties on most industrial products on Wednesday (May 07.05.2025, XNUMX), a strategic measure aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Argentina's manufacturing sector.
The decision, anticipated days ago by the Ministry of Economy, was formalized through the Decree 305/2025, which establishes "an aliquot of the 0% Export Duty (ED) for an extensive list of tariff items included in the Common Nomenclature of MERCOSUR (NCM), as detailed in the annex to the decree (IF-2025-37185796-APN-SSPI#MEC).
The rule explains that the main objective of the measure is to promote a more favorable environment for domestic production, boost value-added, and strengthen foreign trade. Along these lines, it provides for the elimination of the tax burden on a wide range of products. of industrial products linked to the agricultural, mining and petrochemical sectors.
According to the text, this policy is part of "the positive economic results achieved during 2024," a year in which industrial product exports reached a value of $3.804 billion, according to official data.
This measure is part of a comprehensive approach by the Executive Branch based on "administrative simplification, reduction of bureaucracy, elimination of distorting taxes, facilitation of international trade, opening of new markets, and greater global reach for Argentine products."
The elimination of withholdings for these industrial products will come into effect effective May 8, 2025, one day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
The complete list of tariff items affected by this reduction can be consulted in the 36-page annex to the decree, which specifies the NCM of goods intended for consumption that will be exempt from the tax.
