The Government determined the reduction of the Export Duty (DE) until December 31st for external sales operations of skins and hides, through the Decree 812 / 2020, published this Tuesday (20.101.2020) in the Official Gazette.
The regulations specified that "The global health crisis caused by the pandemic led to a sharp drop in leather export levels, which led to the accumulation of leather in the meat industry, with undesirable environmental and health consequences., which put the maintenance of the activity at risk."
He also stressed that "the circumstances arising from the pandemic continue to be the cause of a sharp decline in leather export levels."
The decree clarified that "once the established deadline has expired, the tariff treatment regulated by current regulations will be applied to the export operations of the goods," that is, a 12% retention established in 2018.
