The National Government announced this Wednesday (26.02.2025/322/1973) the repeal of Decree No. XNUMX/XNUMX, which prohibited the export of live cattle intended for slaughter for consumption. Decree No. 133/2025 and is part of the economic deregulation policy promoted by Decree No. 70/2023, which seeks to eliminate restrictions on imports and exports for economic reasons.
The explanation states that Decree 322/73 "authorized the former National Meat Board to authorize exports only to neighboring countries and Peru," which limited the trade of cattle on the hoof. Its repeal seeks to guarantee "the free circulation of goods and services" and, at the same time, strengthen "the insertion of the Argentine Republic in international trade."
The Executive stressed that this decision is in line with the new regulatory framework of the Customs Code, amended by Decree No. 70/23, which establishes that prohibitions or restrictions on foreign trade may only be imposed by law. With this measure, the Government reaffirms its commitment to opening markets and attracting investments in the agricultural sector.
The repeal will come into effect validity the day after its official publication, that is, the February 27 2025.
