The national government authorized the importation of 939 electric, hybrid and hydrogen-powered carsor, which will be able to enter the country with reduced tariffs between this Tuesday and June 14.

This is established by the Provision 159/2022 of the Ministry of Productive Development, published in the Official Gazette, whose text indicates that these vehicles will enjoy a reduced import tariff, depending on whether they are hybrid or electric units or fuel cells (hydrogen) or if they are assembled, semi-disassembled or completely disassembled, with a Extra-zone Export Duty (DIE) of 5%, 2% or 0% respectively.

For the quarter that begins this Tuesday (14.03.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX), export quota applications promoted by l were submittedThe brands Nordenwagen, Peugeot Citroen, Volwkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Toyota, Nissan and Renault.

Furthermore, May 16, 2022 was set as the deadline so that companies interested in importing this type of cars can submit the quota request for the fourth quarter, corresponding to the period between the June 15, 2022 and September 14, 2022.

The Executive Branch recalled that through a 2017 decree, an import regime was established for vehicles with new engines, that is, hybrid, electric or fuel cell (hydrogen) vehicles, with a reduced import tariff, differentiating the scope of this tariff reduction according to the nature and configuration of the units.

He also indicated that in response to the quota requests made and given that the total quota established for this third quarter of Decree No. 617/21, of 1.208 units for terminals located in the country and 76 for companies representing terminals not located in the country, is not reached, it is appropriate to assign the quota of 935 units to the former and four to the latter.
