The World Economic Forum 2023 seeks to strengthen cooperation in a fragmented world

-

The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2023 will be held in Davos, Switzerland under the theme “Cooperation in a fragmented world””, and will call on leaders to address the immediate economic, energy and food crises while developing a shared narrative for a more sustainable and resilient world.

The annual meeting, which will take place from January 16-20, occurs in a context in which multiple conflicts deepen divisions and fragment the geopolitical landscape.

Under this framework, the organizers of the Economic Forum indicated that the meeting will have the highest business participation in history in Davos, with more than 1500 leaders registered in 700 organizations, including more than 600 of the world's leading CEOs, who are members and partners of the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation and representatives of sectors such as financial services, energy, materials and infrastructure, information and communication technologies.

Additionally, organizers said there will be a strong representation of Global Innovators who are transforming industries, including more than 90 leaders led by Tech Pioneers and recently launched Unicorn communities.

“We see multiple political, economic and social forces creating greater fragmentation at global and national levels. To address the root causes of this erosion of trust, we need to strengthen cooperation between government and business sectors, creating the conditions for a strong and lasting recovery,” he said. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum.

"At the same time, we need to recognize that economic development needs to be more resilient, more sustainable, and that no one should be left behind," Schwab said.

To this end, the agenda of the 53rd Annual Meeting focuses on solutions and public-private cooperation to address the world's most pressing challenges. The Annual Meeting encourages world leaders to work together on interconnected issues energy, climate and nature; investment, trade and infrastructure; cutting-edge technologies and industrial resilience; jobs, skills, social mobility and health; and geopolitical cooperation in a multipolar world.

Special emphasis is placed on geographic and gender diversity in all sessions.
