The Guatemalan Customs Superintendent and Pro Tempore President of the Central American Customs Committee, Werner Ovalle, led this Wednesday (27.10.2021/2021/XNUMX) the third Meeting with General Directors of Customs, in which progress in planning for the second half of XNUMX was reported.

The results reported at the meeting are as follows:

Regulatory pillar

The following were put forward for consideration: Roadmaps to advance the objectives of including the field Authorized Economic Operator in messaging DUCA-F, progress in the approval of Units of Measurement of the World Customs Organization, Roadmaps for IT Developments and technical documents.

Pillar of Control

The following were approved: the Information Exchange Protocol with Internal Revenue, the calendar of the work of the Central American Commission of Price for the year 2022 and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Superintendency of Tax Administration for the establishment of the RILO Central America Office.

Trade Facilitation Pillar

A fundamental step was agreed upon for the incorporation of Honduras to the Mutual Recognition Agreement and the information regarding the Regional Dispatch Time Study.

Capacity Building Axis

The management was reported to the WCO SECO Progress for technical and financial cooperation, with the aim of enabling countries to carry out a study with a view to ratifying the Revised Kyoto Convention.

Finally, the Customs Directors received from the IMF Regional Technical Assistance and Training Center for Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic (CAPTAC – DR) the proposal of Regional Study on Gender Equality in Customs Administrations. According to the statement, this initiative was framed within the WCO Declaration on Gender Equity and Diversity and the SICA Regional Policy, and in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5.
