Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, The World Customs Organization organized a virtual workshop on Time Required for Release (TRS) for officials of the Argentine Customs Administration.
The event, which took place in Spanish over four days, from October 5 to 8, 2020, was provided by two subject matter experts from the World Customs Organization (WCO) and was attended by 30 customs officials from the country, the institution reported in a press release.
The workshop aimed to Supporting the Argentine Customs in carrying out its first Time to Clear Study (TRS) Study with a view to measuring the actual time required for the clearance of goods, from the moment of arrival to the physical release of the cargo, and to find bottlenecks in the cargo trade flow process so that necessary measures can be taken to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of customs procedures.
During the event, the WCO experts provided guidance detailed information on the TRS methodology, the reasons why countries write a business process, the importance of creating a useful national TRS action plan to foster national TRS implementation, and the key aspects and features related to the WCO TRS software required to perform TRS.
With the support of experts, customs officials They drafted a tentative action plan which will likely be used to support TRS implementation in Argentina.
