New head of Santiago Customs appointed

This Monday (23.10.2017/XNUMX/XNUMX) Wildo Arévalo assumed ownership of the Metropolitan Customs of Santiago de Chile, after having been selected through the Senior Public Management System (ADP) of the Civil Service.

Arevalo is International Trade Executive Engineer from the Metropolitan Technological University and a Commercial Engineer from the University of the Americas, he has a Master's degree in Public Strategic Management from the University of the Sea and a Postgraduate degree in Public Management and Administration from the Catholic University of Valparaíso.

Previously, the director He acted as deputy of the Punta Arenas Customs Directorate since May 2017, which, in his opinion, the organization plays a strategic role for the region because it not only contributes to border security and the protection of its inhabitants from the risks of trafficking in illicit goods, but is also a relevant actor for the development of foreign trade.

In this context, the greatest achievements have to do with the consolidation of a great work team, which carries out its functions of protection and supervision of trade in an area with very complex climatic and connectivity conditions, and which, despite everything, overcomes them with great performance.

In addition, he said, a strong collaborative relationship was established with the community and local authorities.

 “These were intense months and I think the most valuable thing is that during this time we were able to work as a team and thanks to that, we got the best out of each one of us. I am grateful to our employees and very satisfied, because the achievements were made together,” he said.

Background

The professional has developed a large part of his professional career in the National Customs Service, which he joined in 1989 at the Metropolitan Customs Office. Among the positions he held, he was Operational Advisor to the Regional Director of Customs of Talcahuano, Head of the Inspection Department of the Talcahuano Customs between 2009 and 2011; Deputy Director of Inspection of the National Directorate (T and P) between 2011 and 2012; Head of Operations of the Talcahuano Customs and National Head of the Operations Department. He currently serves as Regional Director (s) of the Punta Arenas Customs.
