The economist Maria Jose Suarez Villanueva She was officially appointed this Thursday (04.01.2024) in the position of President of the National Foreign Trade Commission, through the Decree 15 / 2024.
The National Commission on Foreign Trade is a decentralized body within the scope of the former Secretariat of Trade and Investment of the former Ministry of Economy and Public Works and Services, currently the Secretariat of Trade of the Ministry of Economy. It acts as the enforcement authority on issues of dumping, subsidies and safeguards, as well as a research and monitoring center on issues related to foreign trade and trade policy.
Since 2021, that Commission was headed by Mayra Blanco, a graduate in Economics, whose resignation was accepted.
According to the aforementioned decree, María José Suárez Villanueva will have the rank and hierarchy of Undersecretary of State.
