The Ministry of Productive Development distributed an import quota for tractors, trucks, chassis with engines and motors, all powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), through the Provision 327/2021 of the National Directorate of Industrial Policy Management, published today in the Official Gazette.
The current distribution quota is 20 engines; 20 chassis with engine and cabin or with engine; and 80 road tractors for semi-trailers and trucks, all running on CNG, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) or Biogas, which may be imported with the planned tariff reduction, corresponding to the period between April 2 and July 1 of next year.
According to Decree 440/2019, engines, chassis with engine and cabin, or with engine, all powered by CNG, LNG or biogas, pay an extra-zone import duty (DIE) of 2%.
For their part, road tractors for semi-trailers and trucks that use engines with the same fuels will have to pay a DIE of 5%.
On this occasion, Industry assigned to CNH Industrial 12 CNG engines, 10 tractors and 10 chassis with engine.
The company was the only one to request an import quota for this quarter.
Meanwhile, June 2nd has been set as the deadline for companies interested in importing goods to submit a quota request for the period between July 2nd and April 1st.
