In his prologue, the editor Harry Schurig highlights the importance of international law in the current global context, marked by armed conflicts and geopolitical tensions. He emphasizes that “The existence of armed conflicts, contained thanks to the enormous diplomatic activity and the cross-dependence on energy among countries, added to the fear of neighboring nations about the possible possibilities of the situation getting out of hand, keeps the world on edge, even countries like ours, geographically 'remote' from a possible epicenter of the disaster.".
Schurig stresses that, in this scenario, “Today more than ever, we must disseminate, develop and promote the validity and compliance of international standards and treaties, such as the one that bears the name of these 10th Customs Law Conferences, so that they continue to fulfill their primary objective, not only the immediate and commercial one, but also the intermediate and more transcendent one, consisting of promoting and maintaining world peace, in accordance with the principles that inspired the Charter of the United Nations..
