Quota for the import of hybrid vehicles

The Secretariat of Industry, Knowledge Economy and Foreign Trade Management has established a New regulation for the importation of hybrid cars under tariff benefitsthrough Resolution 355 / 2020.

The regulations, published this Tuesday (24.11.2020) in the Official Gazette, expressly mention in the recitals that "it is convenient to establish the requirements and other formalities which must be observed by terminal companies interested in importing the aforementioned vehicles, with the benefit reestablished by Decree No. 846/20.”

And given that the current Secretariat of Industry, Knowledge Economy and Foreign Trade Management of the Ministry of Productive Development is empowered to dictate the complementary norms necessary for its implementation, the present Resolution is issued accordingly, which has the objective of registration in the quotas to be distributed among the terminal companies interested in importing hybrid, electric and fuel cell (Hydrogen) motor vehicles.

To do so, interested companies must submit the “Request for import quota for hybrid, electric and fuel cell (hydrogen) vehicles within the framework of Decree No. 331/2017 and Decree No. 846/2020”, before the Directorate of Automotive Policy and Special Regimes, dependent on the National Directorate of Industrial Policy Management of the Undersecretariat of Industry of the Secretariat of Industry, Knowledge Economy and Foreign Trade Management of the Ministry of Productive Development, in accordance with the form model that, as Annex I (IF-2020-75860333-APN-DPAYRE#MDP), is an integral part of this resolution.

The provisions of this Resolution shall enter into force on 25 November 2020.
