World trade to slow in Q4: WTO

-

World trade is expected to slow in the fourth quarter, according to the latest indicator from the World Trade Organization (WTO) published on Monday (13.11.2017).

The indicator currently shows 102,2 points, which points to a continued recovery in the second and third quarters, although it is below the 102,6 points it reflected in August., the WTO notes.

In the indicator, 100 points indicate growth in line with the trend, while if it exceeds this level it suggests greater activity for the following months.

The export orders component of the indicator remains above trend but has slowed recently, "suggesting that "Growth will be moderate but quite strong in the coming months."

The The indices for international air traffic of goods and containers in seaports also show a favourable development., although they have lost momentum, which points to a slowdown in growth, says the WTO.

Car production and sales are below trend but show signs of reaching a point where they can only improve.
