Colombia and the U.S. sign a joint work plan to advance a Mutual Recognition Agreement in the OAS

La Administrative Unit of the National Tax and Customs Directorate of Colombia (DIAN) and the Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP) of the United States Department of Homeland Security, signed this Tuesday (19.07.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) a joint work plan in order to seek the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) of their Authorized Economic Operators (AEO).

That joint work plan It will allow progress in the technical evaluation to verify that the OAS and C-TPAT programs are compatible with each other and allow the signing of the Mutual Recognition Agreement, the DIAN indicated. The action was signed within the framework of the 2022 Summit on Trade Facilitation and Cargo Security, which took place in the city of Anaheim (USA).

This recognizes the long-standing relationship between Colombia and the United States on customs matters and seeks to contribute significantly to the end-to-end international supply chain security and facilitating foreign trade between both countries.

The signing of the work plan is in response to the progress that the countries' customs have made since 2020, with the review of program requirements, joint participation in dissemination seminars for the business community, and the coordination of technical assistance missions for the programs. On behalf of Colombia, the Director of Customs Management, Ingrid Diaz Rincón, signed the agreement, who was accompanied by the Deputy Director of the Authorized Economic Operator, Adriana Rojas López.

Colombia currently has 574 foreign trade operators that have authorization as Authorized Economic Operators, occupying the 3rd place in Latin America with the most AEOs, after Mexico and Brazil.DIAN Press Release)
