Logistics agents from Chile and Bolivia operating in the port of Arica attended the workshop "Electronic Maritime Entry Manifest" given by professionals from the National Customs Service at the Chamber of Commerce of Arica.
Objective
The objective of the training was standardize processes in relation to the application of this system that began operating in June 2018.
Exhibitors
The activity was attended by the Regional Secretary of Finance of Arica and Parinacota, Pablo Arancibia; the Regional Director of the Arica Customs, Hugo Yávar; and the Head of the Technical Department of the Arica Customs, Danka Santoro; who highlighted the massive attendance of logistics operators. Bolivian freight forwarders and representatives of Shipping Agencies, the Arica Port Company (EPA), the Arica Port Terminal (TPA), the Bolivian National Customs and the Bolivian Port Services Administrator (ASP-B) participated.
Our Approach
During the workshop, attendees raised questions about the final application of the Electronic Maritime Manifest of Entry in Arica, focused on the processing of bills of lading or Bill of Landing which certify the cargo transported by a ship. In this way, the Bolivian logistics agent or freight forwarder can remotely access the system and enter a form that is sent to the Chilean National Customs Service, from where a copy is sent to the Bolivian National Customs.
The Regional Director of the Arica Customs, Hugo Yávar, described the day as positive and highlighted the benefits in terms of time and supervision which means the implementation of the Maritime Manifest.
“This is a new step forward that our Customs is taking in favor of international trade and the elimination of physical or paper documentation, in addition to the excellent relationship we have with our Bolivian counterparts. A total of 71 people attended the workshop, of which 32 were Bolivian freight forwarders,” said the director.
