The 2022 training course for Guide Dog Detector Binomials of the Chilean National Customs Service is being held at the facilities of the Service Dog Training School.
The four candidates who were previously selected will receive training to support the monitoring of illicit trafficking of goods and drugs in the near future at the Metropolitan Customs Office.
The course, which is designed in a 100% face-to-face format in a boarding school regime, It started on January 6 and will end on February 3 and will take place in the specially conditioned premises of the Service Training School located in Los Andes.
In addition, the training program includes practical exercises with the dogs at the Los Andes Land Port and at the Arturo Merino Benítez Airport, which will be their final workplace.
The welcome to the course was given by the Administrator of the Los Andes Customs, Mariano Gómez, the Head of Operations, Horacio Carvallo, and the Head of the Training School, Juan Carlos Peña.
Students who pass the course will form a team with the assignment of the respective dogs, which will enable them to begin their duties. They will thus be added to the current staff of 26 guide-detector dog pairs that Customs has in service.
