The National Customs Service intercepted two trucks loaded with marijuana and cocaine paste in Iquique on Monday (22.08.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX), thanks to the use of non-invasive technology and risk profiling.
El Regional Director of the Iquique Customs, Cristian Molina Silva, said that in total they were seized 176 kilos 945 grams of marijuana and 2 kilos 15 grams of cocaine paste, which were bound for Antofagasta and Santiago.
The first case was recorded in the advanced The Loa, when the Chilean showed up for inspection with a ballasted truck. However, during the inspection, 94 packages were found hidden in the cabin containing a total of 91 kilos 400 grams of marijuana.


In parallel, during a review with non-invasive technology in the Quillagua advance guard, Customs officers intercepted another truck driven by the Chilean, who was hiding 150 packages with 85 kilos 545 grams of marijuana and 2 more packages with 2 kilos 15 grams of cocaine paste in the structure of the ramp.
The two suspects were charged with drug trafficking and placed in preventive detention for the 120 days set as the investigation period.
The seized drugs could be worth more than $914 million pesos (USD 962 thousand) on the illicit market.
