The National Customs Service reported this Friday (23.12.2022/14/XNUMX) that it seized more than a ton of drugs and two pistols in XNUMX procedures carried out during the last week at the outposts of Colchane, El Loa and Quillagua, located in the extreme north of Chile. The actions of the control teams prevented the commercialization of more than $7 billion pesos (USD 7 million) in cocaine, marijuana, ketamine and crack paste.
The main case was recorded in mattress, where inspectors intercepted a Bolivian truck that was hiding 635 kilos 710 grams of marijuana, 14 kilos 900 grams of ketamine, 95 kilos 550 grams of cocaine paste and a Browning pistol with 4 bullets in the magazine among the ulexite bags. El Regional Director (s) of the Iquique Customs, Ricardo Aceituno Chau, stressed that all these cases are added to others where the methods of concealment were through suitcases with false bottoms, straps or even with insoles in jackets and shoes. "In addition to the drugs, we also seized two loaded pistols and this accounts for the new scenarios and types of smuggling and crime. This is why we are constantly updating our risk profiles and using all possible means of support, such as non-invasive technology, detection dogs and other screening tools," said the director.
