More than $ 73 millones en high tech products He tried to smuggle a Bolivian truck driver out of the country through the Colchane border crossing between the Republic of Chile and the Plurinational State of Bolivia. The goods were hidden inside brand new cars that were bound for Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
El Regional Director of the Iquique Customs, Cristian Molina Silva, explained that during inspections carried out on goods leaving the country, it was detected that inside new vehicles there were a large number of boxes that had not been declared in the International Cargo Manifest.
Because of this, the inspectors carried out an in-depth inspection and found a total of 227 products, which include: 85 iPhone cell phones, 11 Apple digital watches, 67 Air Pods, 5 iPads, 3 MSI gamer notebooks, 3 Apple Pencils, 1 24-inch orange IMac, 1 Yeti microphone set, 18 inflatable arches with their respective fans, 5 cases of beer and numerous cases and chargers.
Regarding the discovery, Molina Silva clarified that although these are legitimately traded goods, “The simple fact of hiding them and not declaring them to Customs constitutes the crime of smuggling.. Therefore, everything was seized and the respective complaint was filed, which will be analyzed by our Legal Advisory Department."
