Inspectors from the Chilean National Customs Service intercepted a drug shipment at the Colchane border crossing (north) that was hidden among bulk soybeans transported by a Bolivian truck. The procedure prevented the entry of 220 kilos 998 grams of cocaine, marijuana and base paste, whose value on the illicit market exceeds $1.833 million pesos.
El Regional Director of the Iquique Customs, Cristian Molina Silva, He pointed out that this important procedure is added to others registered at the El Loa and Quillagua outposts. “This truck came from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and thanks to the documentary analysis and risk profiling, it was inspected, for which its original seals were broken and the tent that wrapped the bulk cargo was dismantled,” explained Molina.

The inspectors found a total of 1 among the soybeans51 packages of different shapes and sizess containing a total of 160 kilos 660 grams of marijuana; 23 packages rectangular boxes wrapped in adhesive tape that concealed 25 kilos 43 grams of cocaine hydrochloride; and 33 packages of different shapes with 35 kilos 295 grams of cocaine paste inside.

The truck has a Bolivian license plate and left from Santa Cruz with an international cargo manifest that covered 26 thousand kilos of bulk soybean meal. Its route included Cochabamba, Oruro and it intended to pass through Colchane.
Once the drugs were detected, the on-duty prosecutor of the Public Ministry was informed, who instructed that the custody of the drugs and subsequent proceedings be assumed by personnel of the OS-7 of Carabineros.
“The National Customs Service carries out a silent and selfless work at all borders and checkpoints in our region and the country. We are alert to all threats that affect us in terms of drug and arms smuggling, as well as dual-use goods and other protection actions such as those we provide to endangered species of flora and fauna. All of the above, without ceasing to comply with what is associated with facilitating foreign trade, tax collection and franchises,” concluded Molina Silva.
