With the active participation of 67 companies in the agricultural, food, telecommunications, fishing, and chemical sectors Among others, the National Customs Service of Chile is developing a free virtual support program that allows the practical preparation to apply for Certification as an Authorized Economic Operator.
This Support plan has been carried out virtually since July 08, lasting 8 weeks, through sessions in which content, materials and tools are delivered that allow participating companies to effectively advance in meeting the requirements necessary to apply for international OEA certification.
El National Director of Customs, José Ignacio Palma, highlighted that despite the pandemic, the certification process is permanently open to all operators. "This is one of the actions we carry out to facilitate the application process for OEA certification, an international seal for operators committed to the security of the logistics chain and compliance with customs regulations. We have used virtual channels to enhance the participation of our importers and exporters in the certification process, and our teams continue to work and support interested companies.
For Delio López, a participant in the company Ericsson "OAS is a certification that we are interested in addressing within our supply chain and that will have a positive impact on the confidence in our business in Chile, considering that Ericsson is a multinational company that always aims for cutting-edge management with high standards."
René del Pino, Administration and Finance Manager of Panor It indicates that "the globalization of markets has undoubtedly increased the risks associated with foreign trade, elements that undermine the safe movement of goods worldwide and Chile is not absent from them. These programs, developed by more industrialized economies, have proven their worth and must permeate both importers and exporters and consequently each of their own organizations in order to reduce the competitiveness gaps with respect to developed countries."
The virtual accompaniment program ends on August 26th and will allow participants to make significant progress in meeting the requirements necessary to apply for certification. The Inter-American Development Bank, companies that are already certified in Chile, Customs Directors and professionals from the Integrated Foreign Trade System (SICEX) have participated as exhibitors in the support activity.
Companies that obtain AEO certification gain access to benefits related to the control and simplification of customs processes, depending on their role in the supply chain. For information about the program, please contact [email protected].
