Central America strengthens capacities in Economic Integration, Customs and Trade

Central America continues to implement actions to facilitate trade in the region.

In this regard, SIECA reported today (29.08.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) that the "First Regional Workshop on Coordinated Border Management«, for four days (from August 29 to September 1, 2023) to strengthen capacities in customs, economic integration and foreign trade.

The workshops will feature the participation of Administrators, Deputy Administrators of the Customs Services of Central America and Authorities of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (MSF) from border posts.

In his inaugural address, the Secretary General of the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), Francisco A. Lima Mena, said: "The initiative to carry out these workshops arose thanks to the Central American tour by the Pacific Corridor "The Secretariat conducted this January, where they were able to directly observe the operational processes and the needs to improve efficiency at the border posts in the region."

He also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the authorities and institutions that have contributed to the realization of the trainings. Among them, he highlighted the participation of the ministries responsible for Economic Integration in Central America, the customs services of the countries, the authorities in charge of sanitary and phytosanitary issues, as well as the allied organizations that provide technical and financial support, such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Spain SICA Fund and the European Union (EU).

One of the main objectives of these training courses is to focus on providing practical tools and knowledge for improve the Competitiveness and trade in the region. Also during the workshop, the uses and benefits of the Central American Digital Trade Platform (PDCC) and others computing platforms trade support administered by SIECA.
