The SAFE (Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade) Working Group concluded the revision process for the 2021 edition of the SAFE Framework of Standards, the only international instrument to secure and facilitate global trade.

The Framework provides international benchmarking standards and is updated every three years to ensure it remains relevant and reflects new opportunities, challenges and associated solutions.

This unique instrument was launched in 2005 and marked the beginning of modern supply chain security standards and a new approach to the end-to-end management of goods moving across borders. It also recognised the importance of a closer partnership between Customs and business.

La WCO information indicates that andSuccessful progress in the revision of the 2021 edition was made at the 25th edition of the SAFE Working Group, held from April 14 to 16 this year, virtually, with customs administrations, the Private Sector Advisory Group, other international organizations and the academic world.

In this regard, the WCO Director of Compliance and Facilitation, Pranab Kumar Das, said at the opening that it was critical to finalize the regulatory review process to ensure timely submission of the 2021 SAFE FoS edition to the next Policy and Advisory Committee for approval.
