Argentina manages to reduce its annual trade deficit with Brazil by 96% during 2024

Bilateral trade between Argentina and Brazil reached a total of USD 2.420 billion in December 2024, which represents a growth of 40,7% compared to the same month in 2023, according to the latest report released this Thursday (09.01.2025/2024/2) by the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC). This performance allowed Argentina to close the month with a positive trade balance of USD 56 million.

Annual results

On an annual basis, trade between the two countries amounted to Argentina's deficit of USD 206 million, which means a 96 improvement% compared to the deficit balance of USD 4.717 million recorded in 2023. This progress was driven by a 13,2% increase in Argentine exports during 2024 and a 17,6% drop in imports from Brazil in the same period.

The growth of sales Argentine exports in December were mainly due to the increase in the export of motor vehicles for the transport of goods, passenger cars, parts and accessories for motor vehicles, as well as liquefied propane and butane. At the global level, Brazil's exports to the world experienced a slight drop of 0,8% in 2024, reaching USD 337.036,2 million, while its imports grew by 9%, totaling USD 262.484,1 million. This resulted in a Brazilian trade surplus de $74.552,1 million, concludes the CAC report.
