The national government decided to release the requests processed through the Import System of the Argentine Republic (SIRA) for the mining industry, official sources reported.
The General Directorate of Customs said today (12.09.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) that such entry authorization is for "basic mining supplies, which guarantees the production and progress of the construction of new projects in the interior."
Additionally, the Argentine Chamber of Mining Entrepreneurs (CAEM) announced that such decision was made following a meeting held last Thursday, attended by members of the Board of Directors of the trade association; the head of the National Mining Secretariat, Fernanda Ávila; and the General Director of Customs, Guillermo Michel, in order to raise the need for the sector to have access to essential goods and supplies to maintain productive continuity and the pace of construction of new projects.
The mining industry, Argentina's sixth largest exporting complex, is characterized by being "a net contributor of dollars to the country" given that its trade balance is positive: "For every dollar it imports, it generates 10," the entity pointed out.
