Customs of El Salvador and Uruguay hold their first meeting on information exchange

The authorities of the General Directorate of Customs of El Salvador and the National Directorate of Customs of Uruguay held a virtual meeting in the framework of the Cooperation Agreement signed last August.

In a statement, the Salvadoran Customs Office reported that this first meeting between the two institutions aimed to define concrete actions to optimize the use of the Agreement. The agenda focused on the exchange of good practices and the development of a digital customs system.

During the meeting, the authorities shared knowledge about the actions, powers and methods implemented by their respective Risk Management Departments, in an exercise of technical cooperation to strengthen the customs processes of both countries.

La National Customs Directorate of Uruguay He shared details on the tools he uses to strengthen risk management, such as scanner image analysis, transshipment and reshipment studies, and the container tracking model for air, land and sea manifests.

Meanwhile, Customs of El Salvador presented the customs treatments applied to goods presented for clearance, as well as the methodologies used for monitoring and document control through the use of institutional databases.

After the meeting, the meeting's statement said that the dynamic allowed both customs services to identify similarities in their operations and risk management, as well as to detect opportunities to improve and strengthen their processes.
