A total of 3.240 counterfeit garments were seized by the National Customs Service in the Iquique Free Trade Zone, located in the city of Iquique, Iquique Province, Tarapacá Region, located in northern Chile. The shipment arrived from the Chinese port of Ningbo with sweaters and sweatshirts for men that imitate the logos and designs of the brands Moschino, Dior and Nike.
El Regional Director (s) of the Iquique Customs, Ricardo Aceituno Chau, explained that the border measure responds to the coordinated work between the Risk Analysis Unit and the Subdepartment of Illicit Traffic Control, who selected for a special review a container that arrived from China with 225 bags of sweaters.

When the merchandise was inspected, 600 items of clothing were found with designs similar to those in the catalogue of the Italian fashion house Moschino, which were printed with the word “Mosohino.” They also found 1.200 “Chrisrian Dior” sweaters instead of the French Christian Dior brand; and another 1.440 items of clothing that emulated the international Nike brand with the letters NK.
Aceituno Chau explained that when counterfeits are detected, the shipment is suspended and the representatives of the brands are notified, because Laws No. 17.336 on intellectual property and No. 19.039 on industrial property are violated. “Pirated or counterfeit merchandise affects trade and generates a series of imbalances, ultimately affecting the consumer.”
