The seized texts contained 2 kilos 420 grams of the substance. They were destined for Europe and Oceania.
In their role of protecting borders against the trafficking of all types of illicit goods, inspectors from the Chilean National Customs Service discovered several postal shipments containing 6 books – some of them with children's motifs – that contained cocaine hydrochloride powder on their covers.
The Customs officials found the drugs after intercepting six postal shipments at the Postal Technology Center (CTP) of Correos de Chile in Quilicura. After the packages containing the books were detected, they were subjected to the required analysis, which tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride.

In this regard, Patricio González, head of the Drug Control Department of the Sub-directorate of Control, said that “The peculiarity of this discovery is that it occurs in merchandise that is packaged in Chile and that was ready to leave the country.. Our service, aware of the role of protecting our foreign trade, constantly works to identify risk profiles that could threaten our export operations, as is the case here.”
The seized postal shipments, which were intended to final destination Europe and Oceania, totaled 2 kilos 420 grams of the illicit substance. The customs officers reported the seizure to the Metropolitan North Prosecutor's Office, from where it was decided to put the drug in the custody of the Carabineros.
