Peru implements electronic dispatch form

-

With the device, which is available in the operations module on the Web, the importer can authorize the customs agent to clear his goods.

In order to reduce time, the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) implemented a new electronic form that allows importers to grant, on the Web, the order to clear their goods to customs agents.

The form, called “Electronic Mandate”, is available in the Sunat Online Operations module (available at www.sunat.gob.pe) which can be accessed using the SOL Key.

Thus, the importer may authorize the customs officer to clear the goods on his behalf, who will accept such request by transmitting the customs declaration.

This procedure will now be carried out virtually. Since the start of the new customs service (25.09.2017), 25% of import declarations submitted by sea have been cleared using the electronic mandate.

This measure speeds up the clearance process, allowing the importer to ship their merchandise more quickly.

The main strength of this tool is that the registration of the mandate can be done from anywhere with internet access, allowing representation to be granted for up to one year, simplifying the process that previously involved trips to Sunat offices and handwritten signatures on each transport document.

In a first stage, this form only swas used for the regimes used for entry into Maritime Customs and in the import regime of the Callao Maritime Customs Office of the Sunat.

For more information, visit the Sunat portal (www.sunat.gob.pe).
